removing wireframes from v4 model in Catia V5

removing wireframes from v4 model in Catia V5

removing wireframes from v4 model in Catia V5

(OP)
I receive .model part data from my customer.  I insert it into a CATProduct file without migrating to V5.  The data includes 3D surfaces along with wireframe in which i need to get rid of the wireframe to see the part clearly.  I hide/show the wireframe but that just hides the lines momentarily.  They show up again when I open the file at a later time even after saving.  How can I hide them until I want to see them again?   Can I delete the lines points and curves and then save the file as a catproduct file?

On another note,  Whjen I receive this data, It comes in severeal files that i have to combine into one file.  the catch is that i don't get all parts cause two parts may be symmetrical to each other.  So I need to mirror the one part to get the other.  Is there a way to mirror that part without adding a new component(part file) so i can pick the correct plane to mirror with?  I am inserting the .model files and want to mirror along one of the default planes not any reference planes that the user has created.

thjanks

Did you save the Product or the Model because maybe you should noshow the CRV and LN in the model first and then try it again.

I inserted the models into a product, hide/show the crv/ln/pt, then saved as a product.  can i save as a .model with catia V5, and if so, how?

RE: removing wireframes from v4 model in Catia V5

You cannot save a model as V5 but you can copy and paste special into a new CATPart. Copy 'Master' from your V4 model
and Paste Special into your CATPart either as RESULT or CATIA SPEC. Result gives you an isolated part with no history. Catia spec gives you just what it says but I have had problems if the original V4 part is not clean. Save your new CATPart as you want to see it and open that in your product.
I presume that you have no V4 access?

What do you consider history?

RE: removing wireframes from v4 model in Catia V5

If your V4 part is a solid then 'RESULT' will give you just the isolated solid with no construction data with it. The 'CATIA SPEC' tries to copy the part with all its background construction detail (history) If it is a surface model then that is all you will get just isolated surfaces

Okay,

I copied master, pasted special both ways as result and catia spec.  got rid of any ln, crv,pt as needed. Inserted that into a catproduct file along with the others.  Now i need to mirror a few items that were inserted.  Do I use symmetry?  When I do, I get the symmetrical item on the tree, but it doesn't show up in the workspace, why?

Mirror, new instance/keep link with geometry are both highlighted.  Part Body highlighted but not accessible.

After hitting finish, the only thing I see is new planes for the "newly created symmetry" that I don't see.

Try turning your CACHE on before you load your product.  Then you should only see the solids.  This will be the tesselated images of your parts, but if you need the design information (i.e. the Tree), then just double click on the parts you need.
