fittings without certificate

fittings without certificate

(OP)
we are a boiler manufacturer company. our commercial department purchased some kind of fittings (such as coupling, reducer, sockolet,...) without any certificate. where can I find the examinations which have to be performed to assure the quality of these fittings?

RE: fittings without certificate

If they are marked per the requirements of the material spec isn't that sufficient for the code?

RE: fittings without certificate

The last I heard someone has to attest to fact that the material meets the applicable code.

RE: fittings without certificate

fazel1,
Reference PG-11. Any examinations that were required to be performed should have been done by the material manufacturer.
Not all product form require inspection, mill test reports, partial data reports etc., although any reputable manufacturer/supplier should be able to supply them.  If your purchasing department isn't aware of Code requirements for material then training and oversight are definitely in order.
Specific material requirements can be found in Section II.

RLS

RE: fittings without certificate

Yes, I would concur with the advice of lostsailor. Purchasing of standard pressure parts like fittings, flanges or welding caps for boiler or pressure vessel service must be purchased to an ASME/ANSI standard. If they purchased and are properly marked per the ASME/ANSI Standard, no mill reports or partial data reports are necessary.

RE: fittings without certificate

The material has to be properly marked including the mfr name and/or logo
to satisfy the AI, certification by the material mfr is common, usually the re-saler will have a printed form ready to mail/fax to you ,also they will have specific heat # for the material supplied. as in Sewc VIII-1 app A-66 (I think), will show ANSI stds, same on SE I app....
