silicon steel specific heat

hi
i need to know exactly the specific heat of silicon steel used in building the transformer cores.
is it same as the (iron/steel) specific heat that is ( 452 J/Kg/K )
thank you

RE: silicon steel specific heat

The typical value of specific heat for Silicon Steel is: Cp=600 J/kg • K

RE: silicon steel specific heat

Just out of curiosity:

Will it be the same for the steels manufactured in different processes?

hot-rolled steel
grain-oriented steel
high-permeability steel
domain-refined steel

All are/was used in transformer cores.

RE: silicon steel specific heat

Hi Ralph

In general, the specific heat are different for different alloys.  Typical values are as follow:

    - Cold rolled steel:        Cp= 481 J/kg.K
    - Grain-oriented steel:   Cp=812 J/kg•K
    - High-permeability:      Cp= 460 J/kg.K
