Converting ACAD layout to Solidworks

Converting ACAD layout to Solidworks

Converting ACAD layout to Solidworks

(OP)
What I am looking to do is take the layout from AutoCAD 2004 and convert it to something Solidworks can use. What I need is to be able to edit it. I need it to be just like the layout was done in Solidworks. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

RE: Converting ACAD layout to Solidworks

Hi Danman5995,

You didn't mention if your AutoCAD layout was 3D or not, but if it is, your best bet is to create an ACIS file and then import the ACIS file into SolidWorks.  It will be editable, but it's a "dumb" solid at this point.

If it's 2D, insert the geomtry as reference geometry and then you can use SolidWorks to build a more intelligent 3D model.
