Ground Fault Current

Ground Fault Current

Ground Fault Current

(OP)
Hi Everybody
WE have to connect a 600 KW, 600 V induction gen to utility now GPR is not a concern on Generation side as the maximum it can go is 600/Sqrt(3) but the secondary(utility) line 69KV , a single line to ground fault curent from them could be a concern. I asked the utility that I need there ground fault current at the interconnection point and the fault current clearing time as was advised to me that as that what I need for a GPR study. There was some novice sitting and she told me that they will give us X1 , X0 for the system. I just want to see that am I correct in assuming that what they will give me a thevenin eqiuvalent of their syetem and then I have to calculate ground fault(but I dont see how just mere these impedances will help me with ground fault current) and their fault clearing time is 500 msec.So do u think I should ask them for the ground fault current.
Thanks

RE: Ground Fault Current

Assume R1=R0=0 and calculate the ground fault current from X1 and X0, assuming X2=X1.

RE: Ground Fault Current

you can ask them for their Available Short-circuit MVA duty or KA on ground fault, this would help you to counter check your calculation as the latter suggested. And it will aid you for Systems Co-ordination.
