Deaerator Design Specialists?

Deaerator Design Specialists?

Deaerator Design Specialists?

Can anyone suggest a company specialising in Deaerator sizing and design? South African based companies prefferable, but not crucial.

RE: Deaerator Design Specialists?

Hi David,
The one we are using at the moment is Stork Thermeq in Holland.

Do u guys have any idea what such a design will cost (roughly)?

RE: Deaerator Design Specialists?

Rather than get into design, you'd likely do better to contact a couple of DA manufacturers, and give them the background data. They should be able to provide options and estimates fairly quickly, unless there are a some special considerations like a HUGE unit.

RE: Deaerator Design Specialists?

david...

With the exception of large power plant designs, deaerators are not "custom designed" for every application.

Because of the place they occupy in a typical steam cycle and because of the standard sizing of many smaller boilers, it has been the custom to offer a line of deaerators.

for example:

You, of course want to decide between the "spray" or "spray tray" designs based on your expected turndown

The people at "Kansas City Deaerator" have been in business a long time and are knowledgable, quite friendly midwestern folks.

Come back with more of your specifics......

Are you looking for a DA for a 1,800 MWe power plant or a 12 hp boiler ????>>???

My opinion only...

RE: Deaerator Design Specialists?

In addition to the previously mentioned companies, you also may want to check out Sterling Deaerator (www.sterlingdeaerator.com).  They specialize in custom designed units for vacuum, pressurized, and high non-condensable gas removal applications.

Pricing depends on a multitude of factors including flow rate, inlet non-condensable concentration, required effluent non-condensable concentration, operating/design pressure, storage requirements, type of deaerator (spray / spray-tray), etc.

In general, tray units will cost you more $$, but will give you much more operational flexibility.  Spray units are cheap, but are ineffective at controlling load swings (specifically turndown, where a tray unit will give you increased performance).

If you want an estimate, just send a request to the deaerator supplier.  They should be able to get back to you in a week or so with project specific pricing.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them.  I'll try to answer the best I can.

Best regards,
Jproj

Thanks guys,

The above mentioned co's do not only supply design as a stand alone. They prefer the package. Is there design specialists who do only that?

RE: Deaerator Design Specialists?

Almost all deaerator companies will supply packaged units.  My advise when specifying a packaged unit would be to SPECIFY EVERYTHING (company at the very least, model number if available).  For the most part, you will get what you ask for.  If you ask for a pressure guage (or a pump, etc.), you will likely get the cheapest one that will meet the minimum requirements.  I realize this a lot more leg work for the purchaser (you), but when it comes time to evaluate bids, you can compare apples to apples (assuming the deaerator supplier confirms compliance with your specifications).

RE: Deaerator Design Specialists?

I think you'll find that the vast majority of deaeator design people actually work directly for one of the manufacturers. I suspect that anybody trying to make a living in the freelance DA design world will starve to death in short order.

Is this application for a HUGE plant? Unless it's special for some reason, you'll almost certainly wind up in the "cookie cutter" design range - which is OK and even desireable. It keeps prices and deliveries under control, and you're not re-inventing the wheel.

RE: Deaerator Design Specialists?

DA's per se have become such commodities that the remaining few manufacturers are trying to keep from starving to death, much less independent freelance designers.  This wheel was invented a long time ago.
