Creating an Excel Based BOM

Creating an Excel Based BOM

Creating an Excel Based BOM

(OP)
Is they anything special I need to do to create an Excel Based BOM for SW? Or is it as easy as adding in my catagories and saving the file (ie...Excel Based BOM.xls)? What is the down side to using an excel bases BOM over the std table? I see it as easier to feed that data into the MRP.

Thanks

Bocephus

RE: Creating an Excel Based BOM

You do not need to do anything special to create either style BOM. You can use the SW templates or make your own. Each have their own pros & cons & each can create csv or txt files for importing into MRP.

Thank you for the reply CorBlimeyLimey. One more question I have. I would like to construct a BOM temp that can contain multiple configurations (ie...-1, -2). Can Solidworking handle this? You seen this done before?

RE: Creating an Excel Based BOM

You can only do this with the SW BOM. Check out the options in the property manager area.
