.jt to iges+catia v5?

.jt to iges+catia v5?

.jt to iges+catia v5?

(OP)
I have received .jt file & imported in Unigraphics than converted to igs & tried to open into catia v5 (need to work in catia as availability) but couldn't able to open.

The error message says: " The modification of part no has failed because another product has this name already, or the new value is empty or contains forbidden charcters"

RE: .jt to iges+catia v5?

I think that your solution lies in the error message.

try these:

1) try to open the part in a new session of Catia, with NOTHING else opened.
2) rename the iges file with only alphanumeric characters.

Solid7:

I have faceted body as soild model & tried to convert iges, step but didn't work at all(It will start executing & then will stop so eventually, it will make iges but if you try to import it, you couln't see anything)

I also tried Solid7 suggestion but didn't work

RE: .jt to iges+catia v5?

JTs are an odd format. If they are created as imprecise then there is just the facet info, much the same as an STL file.

If they are however created as precise then there will be the additional surface data in the background that is supporting the facetted model. I'm not sure about UG but with both I-DEAS and Vis Mockup you can strip out the Surface model from the file.
