Pattern driven by a table?

Pattern driven by a table?

Pattern driven by a table?

(OP)
Hi,

Is it possible to create a pattern in one direction with individual spacing (first spacing 20mm second 30 mm etc) and variable number of instances which are driven by a table (like table pattern in ProE)?

RE: Pattern driven by a table?

Create a set of length parameters, create then a sketch with points and dimension them with the parameters. Now you can create a design table and use thoose parameters.

Use then "user pattern" to instanciate your geometry

Thanks for your reply.

I've already tried that way but as I see it I can't drive the number of instances with a parameter. The only way I see is to add/delete points in my sketch.
The method you describe should work if you're can activate/deactivate a point in the sketch but I hav'nt been able to do that.

RE: Pattern driven by a table?

Then I would suggest knowledgeware and make rules about the points activity, haven´t tried it in case like this (in a sketch) but should work

I've already tried to make a Rule and activate/deactivate the points in the sketch with no success.
Not able to choose points in a sketch...

Thanks for your ideas.

RE: Pattern driven by a table?

I was thinking about making hte points in 3d on a work support and then project them into a skecth. So the activity of the points can be controlled, just tried it and the activity can be controlled but I got problem with the projections, despite I deactivated the point it´s still visible in the sketch despite it also there is deactivated. Go figure...

Thanks for helping out.

I've tried the porjection idea and ended up with the same problem as you. The problem is that I would like to use the pattern as reuse pattern in the assy so I can't have too many points in the sketch.

RE: Pattern driven by a table?

I have seen this done with a combination of a KWA Rule and a VB Script.  When the number of points parameter changes, that fires a KWA Rule, which in turn executes a VB Script that adds or deletes a point.

Thanks catiajim,

Not the easiest way to do it but I'll try it.
