ACI 332 - Discontinuous Footings?

ACI 332 - Discontinuous Footings?

ACI 332 - Discontinuous Footings?

(OP)
Our company does alot of "walk out" foundations.  The footings are stepped by 4' so that we can pour the foundation as a continuous wall at with wall heights of 12' and 8'.  The question is wheter or not the footing needs to be continuous at the elevation change.  I know that most people will logically say that it should be.  If the foundation is formed as two separate footers with minimum space between them at the vertical elevation change does this violate code?  Does the additional cost, labor, and concrete add anything to the load bearing of the wall?
