case-insensitive db in case-sensitive db server -query problems

(OP)
Hi,
I am running a MS SQL 2000 Server. This server is set to be Case Sensitive (a CS collation) but I have attached a database to this server that is (CI)-Case Insensitive. SQL 2000 should support this  but any queries /SQL scripts that runs towards the CI database in this server will still fail unless they have proper case... why?
