Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) piping and Jet Fuel

Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) piping and Jet Fuel

Is there any article or write-ups regarding the above subject? Just curious have anyone really venture into large scale implementation using FRP pipes instead of steel piping for Jet A-1 (or equivalent)?

RE: Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) piping and Jet Fuel

The Air Force are the only ones I have run across to date that have extensively used FRP piping for jet fuel applications.

Just curious. Can I base on the AWWA standards to construct a fuel distribution system? One is water/sewage and the other is petroleum. Will it compromise things like safety, and environmental impacts?

RE: Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) piping and Jet Fuel

ISO 14692 is for offshore petrochem piping. Suggest you use this not AWWA standards for jet fuel. There are some very cheap and dodgy materials in the water and wastewater industry.

Its  a risk thing. If the facility burns down your insurer will say its all your fault for not using industry standard.

But have API or ASTM came out with a standard for FRP pipes for petroleum use? Is offshore piping standard ISO14692 applicable for on the land piping construction?

RE: Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) piping and Jet Fuel

I know FRP piping is used off-shore and the leading supplier of this piping is Smith Fibercast. I would contact them and find out.

ISO 14692 is for both onshore AND offshore applications and will be the standard to which you should refer.
