CATIA Price/Ebay
CATIA Price/Ebay
(OP)
I haven't contacted anybody but I would like to legally buy a copy of CATIAv5R15 for home. The MD2 package would suite me fine. I only would need one license. How much is the running rate for that these days. Nobody has prices on there web sight and I don't want to call somebody if it is WAY out of my price range. I know it is expensive, but just HOW expensive is it.
Also these copies of v5R14 or R15 on ebay that have all the modules that are running around 50 US dollars. I take it those are illegal right?

You can rent software from maverick-solutions, but it's not really cost-effective. I don't know of any other place, but I'm probably not the one to ask.
Just in case you're tempted - pirated software, especially of this caliber - is not a good idea. You won't make any money off of it, because you will be severly restricted in who you can do business with. It's VERY easy to find out if a vendor is using illegal software.
Not that you would, but be forewarned...

Are there any company's out there that would rent me a one of there licenses during 2nd and 3rd shift when they are not using them in the engineering office? With todays floating licensing structure this is possible.
Would there be a place to post about this. I dough my company would do this as we are a defense contractor and they would not want to give me VPN access from home.
RE: CATIA Price/Ebay
I own my own firm, and from my perspective, (aside from the fact that what you are asking to do violates the licensing agreement) I wouldn't risk my daily operations, nor would I want the hassle of supporting a "non-value added" user. If I have that attitude as a small business, even more so, would a larger firm.
Perhaps your best bet, would be to see if you could take a Catia course at the local college, and from that point on, try to make a friend on-staff, volunteer in your spare time, or whatever else that you might be able to do, to gain "practice" time to the lab.
Just out of curiosity - why don't you stay after work at your own company, and put in some time off the clock?
Just be advised that nobody (reputable) will "rent" you Catia time, unless that's how they've bought their licensing. What you want to do, is something that can get a company into a lot of trouble, and for that reasone alone, my guess is that it will never happen.
Again, maverick-solutions leases Catia... (legally)
