Coal Tar Enamel

Coal Tar Enamel

(OP)
I would like to apply coal tar enamel for field coating. The type of pipe is spiral steel pipe AWWA C200. I have few questions as listed below:

1. Do I have to use a primer prior to application of coal tar enamel?
2. Is it necessary to apply CTE as thick as the coating which has been done by pipe manufacturer's?
3. How much CTE should be applied in kg/m2?

RE: Coal Tar Enamel

Contact Tnemec. They supply these coatings and should be able to answer your questions directly.
