Pressure Tanks

Pressure Tanks

Pressure Tanks

(OP)
Hello,

I am looking for company who can make a pressurized stainless steel air tank.  The basic dimensions are 6.00OD x 22" Long.  The maximum pressure will be 120psi.  Both our purchasing department and I have spoke with several vendors.  From those conversations we have received 2 "no quotes" and others have quoted prices which lead us to believe they are not interested.  The material cost is small compared to the quoted price.

Do you know of a company, preferably in the Midwest, that does this type of work?

Thanks

Nick

RE: Pressure Tanks

My suggestion is to use a Boiler/Pressure Vessel fab shop because they should have ASME Certification. What you are looking for is a vendor that has a valid ASME "U" Certificate for unfired pressure vessels.

There are several in the Midwest. We have used Hayes Mechanical out of Chicago, IL

Thanks to the advice.  I should have proof read my post twice.

The basic dimensions are 6.00" OD x 22.00" Long.

RE: Pressure Tanks

If you get with a vendor and go to a pipe size 6.625 OD and use pipe caps you will get a better price and delivery.   Find 6" tube can get to be a chore.

RE: Pressure Tanks

How many vessels you need? To what spec they should answer? If you only few then how about scuba diving pressure vessels? they are about the same size and they are rated for 3000psi and 6000psi. Some of them are made of aluminum and some of steel.

Try Progressive Equipment Corporation
P.O. Box 869
Doylestown, PA 18901
215-348-4668

They made two 5 gallon water tanks for us, certified to 600 psig. Did a very nice job.

RE: Pressure Tanks

You could try one of the tube fitting manufacturers like parker or swagelok.  They make sample cylinders in SS which might be about that size

Send your info (specs/drawings) to jdarco@crecoinc.com and we will see if we can help you.  As has been said previously, if you can go to standard piping components, the cost will surely come down.
