Change from slip-ring to squirrel cage

Change from slip-ring to squirrel cage

(OP)
Hi all,

I intend to change a 45kW 586 rpm S4-60% CDF motor for crane application to a suitable rated squirrel cage motor with vector control. Is there a selection chart for the equivalent motor selection.

RE: Change from slip-ring to squirrel cage

It may even be possible to run with the existing motor and shorted rotor winding. That is, if your existing motor isn't the reason why you are changing drive.

I am not aware of any "conversion table"  but most knowledgeble sales persons shall be able to advice you.

There is one pit-fall, make sure that the drive can handle the load at zero speed and reversing. It shall be able to stop a full speed downward full load and reverse it.
