Preloading Questions

Preloading Questions

(OP)
Hello,
Doing a bit of a review on preloading. Does anyone know where I can example calculations for the following on the net:
* Settlements of filling and slab loads
* Creep consolidation
* Required height for preloading to restrict settlements
* Wick drain spacings
* Batter slope design
* Material options
* Preparations steps
* Construction methods

I know that's alot but most of what I find is rubbish. If you help point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it!

Cheers

RE: Preloading Questions

I'll just add that the height of the preload embankment to restrict settlements will depend on a number of factors:
  1.  The amount of settlement you wish to build out; and
  2.  The amount of time that you wish the preload to act. (if restricted, then you may wish to add wick drains or other vertical drains) to reduce the drainage path and hence speed up the settlement.
  3.  The ability of the ground to support the preload fill.  You can't put a 5 m preload on very soft soil!
