Using a bit from Rslogix500 to control a timer in RSlogix5000

Hey all! I was wondering if i can use a bit from Rslogix500 to control a timer in Rslogix5000???

I have a SLC Rack in one building which has the running bit for the aerator i want to time, and the Control Logix rack in the other building is what i want reading the bit from the SLC cause the programming for the timer is done in the RSlogix5000. So i was wondering if there is a way to accomplish this feat?

If this ain't clear enough just message back adn i'll try to be more indepth. thanks in advance for all your help

It's connected via Radio Modem so it would be wireless i guess

Which port are you using?

You should be able to get what you want done using the MSG instruction.

yeah i've tried that but not quite sure how to write the program and do i need to put any code in the rslogix500 or can it all be done in rslogix5000

RE: Using a bit from Rslogix500 to control a timer in RSlogix5000

First off if you are using a serial radio modem, then you are probably using DF1 protocol using the serial ports on each processor. You will need to look at the configuration of the serial ports in both the SLC and the ControlLogix. This will determine how to configure the communications. Possible configurations are: DF1 point to point, DF1 master, DF1 Slave, and DH-485. The RsLogix 5000 has a manual entitled 1756-UM001F-EN-P ControlLogix System User Manual that explains serial communications.
