Simulating sintering with FEM programs

Simulating sintering with FEM programs

(OP)
Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find information about FEM programs which can simulate the sintering process in powder metallurgy? Has it been simulated before ?

Thanks in advance

RE: Simulating sintering with FEM programs

Sintering is a solid-state diffusion process, and therefore would require advanced materials models developed specifically for this task.  I do not know if any of the available software vendors have applied their products to this process.  I would contact SFTC (DEFORM) and ESI (SYSWELD) to see if their products have been used, or could be used to model sintering.

Thank you very much for your help TVP,

I have been told that ABAQUS has a module specializated in powder metallurgy, but only in the compact stage, not sintering, does anybody know anything about this?
