CSWP exam
CSWP exam
(OP)
How come there is a Solidworks reseller in Singapore who offers CSWP exam to their customers for only $300 for UNLIMITED take of the exam? My point here is that, being a Certified SWx Professional means you only need to have $300. Is $300 the cost of being a CSWP? No wonder, a lot of Singaporeans have become certified since the introduction of that $300 plan. I hope somebody from SWx would realize the impact of this to others who have been certified a long time ago, and that includes me. I think it’s very degrading.

RE: CSWP exam
The fact that they are geting a better deal is a tad annoying, but that is more "sour grapes" than anything.
Consider that in the UK, Solidworks sells for the same amount in pounds sterling as it does in North America in US dollars. The pound is worth approx 2.25 US dollars. Is that also degrading?

RE: CSWP exam
As far as the Singapore exam, as long as it's the same exam and the students still need to pass, what's the problem?
RE: CSWP exam
My sentiments go to scottadams. I think he is not concern about the price you have to pay for taking the CSWP exam (whether its $100 or $500), it's the fact that they are giving unlimited chance to all the examiners. I guess it's the reason why he underlined the word UNLIMITED. Maybe he is right, that it feels like buying the CSWP certification for $300 or whatever.
Imagine your self taking the exam for the first time, you dont have any idea what the test would be like, but still, you prefer to risk your $500 hoping you would pass it. But then again, you were not lucky enough to succeed. So what's next? Will your reseller allow you to take the exam again for free? If that is the case, I sure hope I was in Singapore when I took the exam. Get it?
RE: CSWP exam
Just because some people are getting a better deal than others, doesn't make it "degrading". Instead of feeling envious, jealous or even ripped-off, why not feel pleased that someone somewhere is getting a good deal. Who knows ... that deal could ripple down to us.

RE: CSWP exam
I also agree with MissCSWP. Everyone should have to adhere to the same rules pertaining to the CSWP exam. My gripe isn't with the cost of the test. SW offers the test at SW World for $150. My gripe is the ability for some people to be able to take the exam an unlimited amount of times for one fee while others have to pay a fee every time they take the exam. This just doesn't seem right?

RE: CSWP exam
If anything, the Singapore price structure would encourage VAR's to ensure test takers are prepared. It's certainly not in the VAR's best interest to have repeat takers for free. I doubt the individuals taking the test relish the thought of taking the test multiple times.

Let's change our perspective, assuming the above figure is true, is it fair for the Singaporean to pay half of the month's salary for one exam?
Maybe $100/exam would be reasonable price for them. Now if those who took the exam and pass the first time, they are paying $300 instead of $100, I would say that's not fair.
The above are only assumptions, so my point is, there are underlying factors of how and why such decision is made.
