Code(s) regarding FM-200 and Electrical Power Shutdown

(OP)
I have an FM-200 system in place in a CATV master headend and am curious what code(s) may be regarding building power shut down in the event of FM-200 release. The electrical contractor who wired the building mentioned it is code to shut down power if released, but couldn't tell me what code it is.

Any help with finding the exact code that mandates this?

I understand HVAC must be shut down, but would like to see that total building power is not shut down due to FM-200 release, if possible. There stands a great chance of a large number of services and subscribers that would ultimately be affected.
Thanks for all your help.

RE: Code(s) regarding FM-200 and Electrical Power Shutdown

The contractor might be thinking about Article 645 on Information Tecnology Equipment.

You'll need to read it, especially 645.4 and see if you think the inspector will think it applies to your room.  If he/she does, you'll need some type of emergency shutdown for the power as well as the HVAC.  Enjoy.....

Review NFPA 75 which requires that if a gaseous suppressions system is installed the power to all electronic equipment shall be disconnected upon activation of a gaseous agent total flooding system.

RE: Code(s) regarding FM-200 and Electrical Power Shutdown

Hopefully your installation does not need the leinencies provided by Article 645 in the NEC.  The pre-requisites are hazardous to the reliability of the equipment.

NFPA 75 requires power shutdown, but it is only a standard, and not adopted by any jurisdiction that I'm aware of as a code.  So it is not enforcable.
