3D GD&T & annotation in Isometric View

3D GD&T & annotation in Isometric View

3D GD&T & annotation in Isometric View

(OP)
We have a customer that uses Unigraphics (I believe) and some of there simple part prints consist only of a single isometric view. The GD&T is not normal to the page but normal to the surface that the dimension is measuring. It looks really good and I would like to do it on some of our manufacturing drawings where a normal print might be hard for somebody on the shop floor to understand.

Basically what I am looking for is the ability to dimension in 3D. I am searching for the look of 3D annotation.

Second question can 3D annotation automatically copied over to the drawing?

Can this bee done in Catia V5?

RE: 3D GD&T & annotation in Isometric View

An even more important question, that I hope someone more knowledgeable than I can answer: (which might be a better solution)

Does the 3DXML player support 3D annotations yet?

This would be the best way to communicate to the shop floor...

By the way - I've been using the 3DXML player to bounce designs off of customers, and I absolutely love it. (as do they)  It's a long overdue product.

What is 3DXML Player could you post a link?

RE: 3D GD&T & annotation in Isometric View

Only available for R15. (and future)

You can find it at the Catia homepage.  At the time of posting, I cannot access it, (page is down) but go to www.3ds.com, and follow the links.  It's usually pretty easy to find.

Here it is.  Although it was easy to find from the home page, I'll go one step further.

Templetonc....

To answer your original question:  Yes

In V5, the 3D Functional Toleranceing & Annotation product provides the capability to dimension parts in 3D, including GD&T.

And Yes again, those 3D dimensions can be copied over to a drawing.
