Positioning a callout
Positioning a callout
(OP)
Just started to work with Solid Edge v16 a few weeks ago. I'm now trying to make a draft template.
Got a positioning problem with the callout I use to fill in in my righthand bottom. Is there a way to use the coördinatesystem in the draft environment for positioning these callouts...?

RE: Positioning a callout
no, that's not possible because a draft does not have a
coordinate system like .par. The 0,0 coordinate in a draft
ist the lower left hand corner of that sheet. A callout
once placed will stick to that point regardless of the
papersize. A circle or square terminator means the callout
is placed on empty/free space. You may, however, place
a callout on a line or dimension in a view then it will
show an arrow and will stick to that item.

RE: Positioning a callout
Just format the textbox how you want it (size, style, justification) and place it by Right-Clicking on it and going to properties. Usually I make the Textbox length and hieght a nice number like 0.25" x 1" and that way the (x,y) position of the top let corner is easier to calculate.
Once I get the textbox where I want it, I make a callout with same text as the textbox. Make sure the format of the callout is right and then move it until it overlaps the textbox (usually i zoom in abit). Then you delete the textbox.
I only did this for lining up my text in the Titleblock, and then copied all of it for the different sheet sizes.
RE: Positioning a callout
Use this to line up text in rows and columns in your title block for example.
It also works for single dimensions. (V14/V15)
