Mechanical Desktop 6 - Bending a Sketched part

Mechanical Desktop 6 - Bending a Sketched part

(OP)
I am trying to bend a part in Mechanical Desktop 6. Here are the steps I am taking:
1. Sketch my drawing on the sketch plane
2. Polyline Edit and join it
3. AMPROFILE it
4. Draw a line throught the center (the bend line)
5. Part-> Sketched Features -> Bend

I get an error when I try to do this, something about a two-point line open profile. The part is simple - I am simply trying to bend something that looks like a horseshoe around a cylinder.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
Ben
