dimensions for mirrored parts

dimensions for mirrored parts

Is there a way to bring in the dimensions from an original part into the drawing file of a part derived (mirrored)from that original part?

We make lots of parts that are right and left handed and we like to make a separate drawing for each hand, both with dimensions on them.  We also like to be consistent with the dimension format.

Making the derived part is easy, but how do we dimension the drawing without doing it manually?

RE: dimensions for mirrored parts

Try opening the existing dwg (when the open window pops up, select 'references' box).
Dbl-click part file, browse to mirrored part, OK to end. Save dwg as new p/n.
I have not tried it with a mirrored part, but worth a try.

RE: dimensions for mirrored parts

I don't believe you can insert the Model Items dimensions on a mirrored part.

Thanks for the thread link.  It is my exact problem and it answers my question.

I guess we do need to put in an enhancement request.

Sorry I missed it in my thread search, didn't use the right keywords I guess.
