Linked body with out an assembly?!

Linked body with out an assembly?!

Linked body with out an assembly?!

(OP)
Hello everybody,
I have a part in which I see that there is no assembly and still there is a linked body. I have checked for the suppressed components but there aren't any.
I have this part butI dont know how it is made. How can I find that?
Please tell me how can i link a body from another part without having an assembly.

RE: Linked body with out an assembly?!

You will need to get the assembly of components, from the source of your file, the linked body will always show up even without the part it was linked from. As far as I know you need to be working in an assembly to be able to link to another part. The only way to see how your part was created is to have the model it was linked from.

RE: Linked body with out an assembly?!

The component could have been linked from a higher level assembly, or it could have been linked, and then the component deleted (broken link).

Everything should be designed as simple as possible, but not simpler.

I do agree with tqqlin, that for having a linked body we need to be in an assembly,I know from which part the link is coming but that too is not an assembly.
Links are not broken yet.I dont see any component in the assembly navigator. Link is not coming from a higher level assembly.

RE: Linked body with out an assembly?!

It is possible to create a linked body without being in an assembly. With the full WAVE license (Not the WAVE geometry linker) you can create links from parts not in your current assembly. With this license you can also create position independent links.

RE: Linked body with out an assembly?!

John Baker made a comment on the UGS BBS the other day that you can take the linked-body assembly, break the links and export it. That way you can send out your assembly but not the parameters of the details.

"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.
