Can A312 welded pipe be upgraded to a 1 joint factor with 100% radiography?

RE: Joint factor

Yes, provided a full penetration seam weld is used. For piping this would be a single-vee or double-vee weld joint configuration. The requirement is full penetration coupled with 100% RT.

RE: Joint factor

Didn’t finish my above post;

One additional comment pertaining to the SA 312 Specification - the requirements of this specification indicate that seam welds shall be made with no filler metal (autogenous) for seam welded or HCW seam welded piping. Again, the same concept applies for electric fusion welded pipe with no filler metal (see ASME B31.1, Table 102.4.3) provided 100%RT is performed.
