LM License Server Insight

LM License Server Insight

LM License Server Insight

(OP)
Hi,

Was looking at our server status for the Flex LM server for UG NX 2.0.

Noted the we have the following
Users of ADVDES:  (Total of 750 licenses issued;  Total of 95 licenses in use)

Users of ADVDES_solid_modeling:  (Total of 750 licenses issued;  Total of 41 licenses in use)

What is the difference in these two?

Is there any way to tell if these license are actually in use right now or idle?

In the following entry what does (dcsap09/27000 61219) pertain to?

joesmith KPNP192 KPNP1920.0 (v20.0) (dcsap09/27000 61219), start Mon 9/19 17:43

RE: LM License Server Insight

The ADVDES is the main Bundle name.
The ADVDES_solid_modeling is a module within the Bundle.

A license is always in use if a user has UG open on their desktop. In your example 95 people have UG open and 41 have opened modeling within UG.

FlexLM will also list all user names for each module.

The last line is broken down like this:
joesmith - login name of person using the license

KPNP192 - Joe Smith's computer network name
V20.0 - UG NX2 license file, allows you to run any version of UG upto NX2

dcsap09/27000 - is the license server (dcsap09) and the port (27000) that the G FlexLm process communicates through

61219 - I am guessing it is an internal port communication number since all users are on port 27000

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

Ben,

One follow up if I may. If you do not open any particualar applications in UG such as Modeling or Advanced Assembly, etc. What exactly can you do with UG?

The question is not aimed at me, but I'll post a reply anyway.

There are a lot of useful things that you can do in the 'gateway' application. For instance you can create a new file and set up layer categories and preferences or you can open an existing part, shade it, rotate it, analyze distances and angles, change colors, fonts, lineweights etc. Just about all of the analyze functions are available: spline, faces, curvature, draft, mass properties, etc etc. You can also do high quality visualization, eg raytracing and/or photorealistic shading.
