Building frame using coordinates V17

Building frame using coordinates V17

Building frame using coordinates V17

(OP)
I am trying to build a wireframe of a chassis using an excel file that has the tubing coordinates. The wireframe will be used with the "Frame" tool to make a tubeframe chassis. So far, I have tried using "Curve by Table", but it seems to only plot coordinates sequentially. Is there a way to plot these coordinates as separate lines, while using Curve by Table?

If not, is there any other way to do it?

Thanks,

RE: Building frame using coordinates V17

Hi,

With curve by table, you have an option that creates linear segments. Nevertheless, this is not a good method for you b/c this curve is created in a part, not in an assembly...

I would use a combination of sketches in different planes with 'line segments' (3D segments in frames) connecting them. You can have dimensions by coordinate in the sketches and you can have regular dimensions on the line segments.

I don't see a way to create a 3D wireframe based on an excel sheet that you could use with the frame command...

Is it possible to build a macro to read to coordinates from the excel sheet and sketch them out?
