Log credits for giardia removal

(OP)
Has anyone ever seen any documentation suggesting that filtration with a manganese greensand media removes giardia?

In addition, does anyone know of any jurisdiction (state/ province, etc) that recoginizes the above?

Thanks in advance for your information

RE: Log credits for giardia removal

Filtering without chemicals (coagulents and polymers) typically will not give a CT credit, as the giardia can squeeze through the pores between the sand.
Sometimes credit is given when chemicals are used, but optimization of doses and flow rates is more difficult with a pressure filter because the operator can not see the outcome of the dose rates on the media bed, so the credit are typically less than the credit given for a traditional gravity filter with equal componets.
