Holes for circuits in tube sheets

Holes for circuits in tube sheets

Holes for circuits in tube sheets

(OP)
We use rectangular tube sheets for use in pressure vessels. The sheet thickness ranges from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. There are numerous holes in the plate for passage of the circuit tubes. Hole diameters range from 3/4 inch to 1.05 inches. Are there any specific tolerances that we can use for these holes that are covered in the ASME code? Or can we set up our own tolerances.

RE: Holes for circuits in tube sheets

What design Code do you use for these pressure vessels?

RE: Holes for circuits in tube sheets

(OP)
The Code we use is Section VIII Boiler/Pressure Code.

Sounds like these could be air cooler header boxes in which case you can refer API 661 Table 12 for tube hole tolerances. Standard fit for 3/4" tubes is 0.76" +0.0, -0.004" and for 1" tubes is 1.012" +0.0, - 0.004"
