2 Weeks Notice
2 Weeks Notice
(OP)
:(
It's always so sad when you give your notice to someone that you like. I've had many employers in my (short) days and some of them I could give a rats a$$ about, but it's always hard to give it to someone whom you like and have a great amount of respect for.
And I suppose that I am a little freaked out about leaving Sothern California and moving to Texas without a job...(as some of you know, my wife got a big job in Dallas so we are moving)...
I felt so bad I gave 30 days instead of 2 weeks

Good luck with the move, Im sure it will work out for the best.
It shows you are a person of character, that you valued your employer. Would they if they were in a financial pinch be as kind? Most companies aren't so kind. But still you haven't closed a door, and kept a good reference.
Have you considered telecomuting, doing some application engineering, and/or possibly consulting for your current employer? LA is not that far from Texas. Try posting on Starting & running an engineering business forum for some ideas.
Good Luck!
dont mind the smiley it has nothing to do with the post I just think its hillarious. (Im easily amused)
RE: 2 Weeks Notice
I offered the "consulting" work to my boss today, but I know it's not that promising. Some of our termal/acoustics guys have some clients in Dallas... and at least I could be available to get data off of aircraft for them... But chances are I'll end up working for a competetor, as a good deal of aircraft mod and interiors goes on in Texas.... so I cross my fingers...
and i'm still working late on a saturday... god I'm a good employee

I don't think you'll have any problems finding employment in the Dallas area. But like Chris said, it will be a major change for you. Good luck and hang in there.

One of the Reasons we are leaving... My wife is an Architect, so the push to own a home is great... and with the salaries we make, just not economical to buy in the city. (we looked at a 2 bed - 1.5 bath home in our neighborhood, just east of hollywood, that is basically unlivable (bare floor, half the walls in disrepair on 1/10 acre was being offered for 585,000. And we want some land. (cause I got these 3 sheep that are now barned at a horse stable) So we've been looking at homes outside of Dallas (because I commute about an hour anyway) where we can get a nice farmhouse on 50 Acres for 200K...
