Working with previous versions

(OP)
Hi
I'm new to Solidworks and after finishing my first project I've learn my customer has an earlier version of Solidworks and is unable to open the file I emailed him. Is it possible to save files to earlier versions. I using 2005 and my customer is using 2004. This is a simple process in Autocad which I'm trying to get away from using.

RE: Working with previous versions

No.

Save as parasolid (.X_T) format and you'll be fine.  You won't have all the feature data (dumb solid), but it's the only way to do this.  You can save a single assembly file if you like and all the part files will be included within the exported file--very compact and very reliable.

ACAD can do this because ACAD isn't a string of complex features, but a mere pattern of lines.  SolidWorks is immeasurably more complex because of the features.
