Lock the border from moving
Lock the border from moving
(OP)
Ok I have been using Solidworks for two months now and I am love.
I do have a minor problem though, I setup my border template. Is there a way to lock the positions of everything? I notice that when I create a new drawing when using my template I am able to move border entities. I have everything on a border layer. I created the drawing and then saved it as a .drwdot. I am sure I am doing something wrong. I tried adding a fixed relation, no love their either.
I also tried searching the forum but I am sure I am using the wrong keywords.
I also linked all my border text to custom properties which is incredible if you ask me. Lots of fun.

One mode allows you to edit the sheet template, the other mode is for the drawing itself--sort of like a layer. When working in the drawing mode, the sheet is "locked".
Check it out in help under drawing template or some such term.

When you created the template, did you exit the Edit Sheet Format mode before saving it? (i.e. Click on Edit Sheet to return to the normal drawing mode.)
Did you use Save Sheet Format to save the template?
Also, when in the Edit Sheet Format mode, only the geometry (not notes) can be fixed in place using the Fix constraint. (Same as a regular sketch entities.)

What I do is go to Sheet1 in the FM and RMB and select Properties. Here I can change the Sheet Format that I'm using. If I using a B-Size sheet but I need a D-Size I change it here. I have never had any problems. Hope this helps.

when in 'edit sheet format', you can also dimension all lines of the format to constrain, then RMB each dim and 'hide'. Just a thought.
