Series Star?

Series Star?

Series Star?

(OP)
Hello,
I have come across a term on a generator data sheet that I'm not familiar with and am sure that someone on this great website knows it.
Under connection the term seris star is used.  What is this?  I know the connections as delta, ungronded wye and grounded wye.

RE: Series Star?

Is it a dual voltage generator with two windings in seies in each leg of the wye (Star)?  For the lower voltage output, there would be two windings in parallel on each leg.

The data sheet only has one voltage listed, 480 V.

RE: Series Star?

still the same as RC Wilson says.

There is a star point.  The 6 windings are arranged in 3 phases with two windings each phase in series circuit, and the ends of the 3 circuits are tied together in a Wye or Star. This is common in reconnectable generators with either 9(10) or 12 leads for the high voltage output.

okay, that all makes sense to me now.  this is on smaller units and most of my background is in 5 mw and larger generators.  Thank you all!!!!
