Possible to Copy Tabs in DRW file?

Possible to Copy Tabs in DRW file?

Possible to Copy Tabs in DRW file?

(OP)
SWX 2005 SP4.0

I have a drw file which contains an assembly tab and about 20 detail tabs.  I have some tabs/sheets which have two details on them.  The customer now informs me that we can only have one detail per sheet.  Is there a way I can copy a tab, with the two details all dimensioned, so I can then erase one detail on each sheet so there is then only one detail per sheet?

Thanks

RE: Possible to Copy Tabs in DRW file?

Open the dwg, select "Window/new window" in menu. Go to each window and select sht tab you want to see. Cut/paste details to new sheets.
FYI, there is nothing illegal with having more than one detail per sheet.

That worked great, thanks!

I like having more than one detail per sheet, but the customer also just gave me their standard detail block.  It has variables within in it that are filled out by the custom props in the detail.  So when I add this detail block to each detail, on a two detail sheet, both blocks end up taking the custom props from the same detail.

Good, your welcome.
Thats makes sense using custom props.
Good luck.

Chris:

I think multiple details per sheet is against ANSI standard.  Although it is doable, it is not the way SW is supposed to be used.

There detail block can be changed to read properties from the view rather than the sheet (which uses the properties from the first view). There should be a property in the linked note $prpsheet or something like that. Change it $prpview. Then make sure the view is active (double click) when you place the block.

You may not be able to do this if this is their standard, but you might pass this info on to them, especially if this is the only reason they are splitting it up.

Thanks, that is good to know about linking the block per view.  However, I can't alter my customers standard blocks.  Maybe I will suggest it to them.
