RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

Interesting... If I go to the SW website, I only see the SW EV SP 5.0, but if I go from Help > Service Packs > Check it shows up.  Maybe it isn't an evaluation version SP.

RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

I haven't seen any thing on it's offical release yet. It has only been in EV for about 1 week now.

RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

(OP)
Yeah, this happens all the time.  Go to the site, and only the EV version is posted.

This is because SW doesn't update their "update" page of the site.  Click the downloads link to the left and you'll be able to navigate to the SP 5 download.

RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

What's actually fix in SP 5? The site only shows 2 items being fixed. What's up with that?

RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

Why is the Solidworks website so hard to navigate thru. I'm trying to find out whats in sp5, and everywhere I look, there's nothin'!

RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

After logging into the SW support, on SP page scroll down to "Select SolidWorks Version and SPR Display Type (General or All)" and go to 2005 (next sp} > show

It is the place to look, but SP5 is not listed yet.

RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

Here is a good chance to rant:

Why the heck does SW require you to be on subscription to get fixes for bugs in the software you paid for?  That is a big scam, as far as I'm concerned.

I understand it for phone-in support and version upgrades, but if they are fixing known bugs in the software without a version change it should be given to all customers free of charge.

RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

DReimer,

I agree with you on the 'bug fixes' within the version purchased.  It's almost like buying stock in a company without any dividend.  Maybe if enough people submit that as a legit complaint it might get changed....doubt it but it's worth the try.

Not exactly sure, maybe Scott can chime in, but I think I remember someone saying that even if you are not on subscription support, you can still get the patches through the VAR that sold it to you.

Don't know why they don't just post them for everyone to download, complain and tell them that Autodesk allows you download Inventor patches.

RE: SW 2005 SP 5 is available

IMO - If you want to Rant about this, I suggest you take it too comp.cad.solidworks - there are plenty of people there that will agree and Rant with you.

Your right Jason!

You are entitled to them but you will have to go through your VAR to get them or call SW directly.

If it was open to any and everyone all the hacked copies would have the ability to upgrade to the SP. I understand why it's not open to the public, but all users should be aware they are entitled to the SP for the version they bought, even if they are off or didn't purchase SS.

Consider this as an ER - Have Customers that are off SS or didn't purchase SS, send in an email to SW or a VAR with their Serial numbers to confirm they had purchased copies X date. That would help but no elevate Hackers. I believe Hackers are the reason why they don't allow direct DL.
