how do you make colors propagate to an assembly

how do you make colors propagate to an assembly

(OP)
Hello,
I have a part, on which I have changed some surfaces to a different color from the rest of the surfaces.
However, in the assembly that this part feeds into, the new colors that I assigned do not show up at all.
I tried to change the colors at the assembly level, but the system will not let me do it.
How do I make these colors show up?

RE: how do you make colors propagate to an assembly

You likely have a colour assigned to it at the assembly level.

In the assembly, open up the Color and Appearance dialog, change the Selction type to Components and choose your component.

Then hit the "Clear" button.

This should wipe out any colour assignments at the assembly level and show it as the part defines it.

Hope it works...
