Suspected tube leakage in Hydrotreater exchanger train

Suspected tube leakage in Hydrotreater exchanger train

(OP)
We found evidence of hydrotreater feed mixing with the reactor effluent. The analisys showed that we have a leak in our feed/effluent exchanger train.
Is there a way to take reactor effluent samples during normal plant operation, between heat exchangers? There are 6 exchangers in total. We don't know which one is leaking and don't know how to identify the one that's leaking. Our plan is to hydrotest all of them.
If you of a way to take samples of reactor effluent between exchangers, please advise.

RE: Suspected tube leakage in Hydrotreater exchanger train

If you don't have any bleeders, how on earth would you want to sample, let alone safely? Just take that unit down, hydrotest all the exchangers (who knows, there may be more than one leaking) and repair what needs to be repaired. If you try to be too intelligent, Murphy's law predicts you will have to shut down twice...

RE: Suspected tube leakage in Hydrotreater exchanger train

There are on line radioactive leak testing systems detection on heat exchangers that can have application in your unit
