LINKING OF DRAWINGS

LINKING OF DRAWINGS

LINKING OF DRAWINGS

(OP)
I have two set of drawings that contain approx 15 sheets each, now Id like to send these as one file, does anyone have a hint on how to link them together.

Thanks,

RE: LINKING OF DRAWINGS

I have done this before by saving each drawing as a PDF file and then using a freeware program call pdfmerge to join them into 1 pdf file.

RE: LINKING OF DRAWINGS

Could you use WinZIP or another compression utility program?

RE: LINKING OF DRAWINGS

Thanks, But I'd still like them to remain as a single solidworks file, with reference to the models.

RE: LINKING OF DRAWINGS

According to our VAR, it cannot be done. Sorry! If you need one set of drawings for viewing, merge as PDF. If must remain SW drawings, they will be seperate.

I have one drawing that is 24 pages long, and each page is a separate drawing. Had to do it because of File size, and it's a real pain in the backside....

RE: LINKING OF DRAWINGS

I think you need to give more detail about what you are trying to do.

1) When you say "send these files", I assume you mean to a 3rd party who is not on your LAN. If that is the case, unless you are sending the part & assy models with the drawing files, the recipient will not have associativity anyway!

2) If you make copies of the drawing sets and then zip & send the copies, the originals will still be associative.

3) Merging the drawing sets will affect the drawing & sheet numbers.

The only way I can think of "associatively merging" is to copy-n-paste the views from one sheet in a drawing set to another sheet in the other drawing set.
