holes along a curved surface

(OP)
I am new to solidworks, having worked with Autocad for about 15years.

I have been reading guide books learning this thing.

How do I put holes into a shaft on the circumference 108 degrees apart about half an inch from the end?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

RE: holes along a curved surface

I know it's easier said than done ... but just forget AutoCAD. It will make learning SW much easier if you don't try to do things the AutoCAD way.

As I mentioned in your other thread, working through the Online Tutorial should be your first step. Training through your VAR would also be advisable if you need to "get up to speed" ASAP.

BTW, what version of SW are you using?

RE: holes along a curved surface

Check out referce planes. In short, create two planes that are tangent to your surface and angled appropriately. Then use those planes to drop your holes.
