Simulation Question

Simulation Question

Simulation Question

(OP)
Hi all,

This is an extension of the post i have going below, but its a different problem so i started this thread.

I have the effect of a drill bit cutting a hole, (Thanks Scott!!!)

I decided to use simulation and a rotary motor to get the rotating done. Now i need to show the dissengaging of the mechanism once it penetrates the substrate. Essentially the the bit is engaged only when pressed against something, once it goes through, the drive separates from the bit. i need to keep a portion of the bit assembly rotating once it goes through. i can stop the simulation before the animation finishes, but i cant rotate a portion of the assembly independent of the simulation. (if that makes sense). Amt suggestions? Sorry if this is confusing. Thanks in advance!

RE: Simulation Question

(OP)
anyone? I figured i'd bump back to the main page.

RE: Simulation Question

Mitsu50,

Bumping isn't allowed in this forum and can result in RF'ing and then the subject could be removed.

If someone has an answer they will post it. And if they don't try giving more information or better explain your problem to help us understand your issue better.

Just trying to keep you from getting RF.

RE: Simulation Question

no problem, I just didnt think that it would be seen on the second and third pages.

It turns out i've figured it out. I just had to use distance mates and concentric with axis to keep them separate so i could disengage the assembly.

RE: Simulation Question

Glad to see you found the answer and I am also glad you posted it! That gets you star if you ask me. Many issues here never get a reply back on the fix to the issue, especially if the poster found it him/her self.
