Friction coefficient of alumina ceramic?

Friction coefficient of alumina ceramic?

Friction coefficient of alumina ceramic?

(OP)
I would like to know what the coefficient of friction is for 90 - 92% alumina ceramic tile.  I know that there are many variables that affect it but I do not need precise numbers.  I just want to know how alumina ceramic compares to mild steel, stainless steel, and/or chrome carbide overlay.  I am looking for a wear-resistant material for coal chutes but we also need to minimize friction and thus material hang-up and plugging.

RE: Friction coefficient of alumina ceramic?

I don't have any numbers for Alumina tiles but pure Alumina > 96% has a friction coefficient of 0.4-0.46 @ 2 Gpa @ 50?C both wear and the friction coefficient increase up to
200°C.  The manufacturer of the tiles should be able to give you some information.
You have to be very careful where you use Al around any coal handling equipment.
