Universal Joint assembly
Universal Joint assembly
(OP)
I've created a universal joint assembly (2 end pieces, 2 pins, 1 center block w/ 2 holes) and left the appropriate degrees of freedom free, so in its own assembly, the U-joint can be rotated freely like a real U-joint.
I'm using this U-joint assembly in a larger assembly (cam track actuator assembly) in which a pin is guided by the cam track (not linear). The non-linearity of the cam track is the reason for the u-joint. As the pin slides down the track, the angle of the u-joint changes (I'll reduce complexity by leaving out the thread mechanism which connects the u-joint to the guide pin and just assume that it slides down the 'connecting' rod).
Does SldWx support this kind of assembly feature which allows the pin to stay guided, while allowing the u-joint to rotate thru its degrees of freedom?.
(I'll try and figure out how to post a pic in the mean time)

Thanks CBL. I think your response in the first of the animation thread links (your response = flexible subassemblies) should solve my problem. Thanks.
