Sand Specification for Drying Bed

Sand Specification for Drying Bed

Sand Specification for Drying Bed

(OP)
Okay, need help with this one...

I'm a structural engineer and I've been asked by a customer what type of sand should be used for a drying bed; Lindeburg provides not guidance and that's as deep as my WWT knowledge goes. Can anyone help with a typical spec for drying bed sand?

(My guess is that an AASHTO A-3 is appropriate, but I have a feeling this is not the normal way to specify it).
