Epoxy degradation temeperatures

Epoxy degradation temeperatures

Epoxy degradation temeperatures

(OP)
Hello everyone

I'm working on a way to coat epoxy with a low friction coating. Theoretically for this coating to work i need to do a thermal cure (thermal treatment)at about 200º C.
My main doubt at this moment is to know the maximum temperature of cure, for a Aluminium epoxy mold.

Best regards

Paul

RE: Epoxy degradation temeperatures

Firstly I have to confess that I am by no means an epoxy expert. However, I did do my third year project on epoxies many years ago. As I remember, the curing temperatures for the epoxies were in the range 180-210°C. That means that typical epoxies will easily take 200°C. For more info just search Google using the name of the epoxy you are using and see what the cure and maximum use temperatures are.

There are fluorinated epoxies that should bond well with the surface of a normal hydrocarbon epoxy to give a low friction surface and also one that is easy to clean. I think there are patents on just such surfaces for anti-graffiti.
