PDF PLOTTING FILE SIZE

Does anyone know why when I plot a pdf file of 750KB, it goes upto 130MB in the plotter's memory??? If so do you know how to control this?
Thanks.

RE: PDF PLOTTING FILE SIZE

What kind of plotter and driver are
you using?

RE: PDF PLOTTING FILE SIZE

On a DJ650C, I have had modest success by setting the plot driver to use the computer's memory.

By 'modest success', I mean the plot was made in bands, took hours to come out, and the last few inches of the right side of the drawing were either missing, or completely black (from having _all_ of the color jets on _all_ of the time).

I have wasted _days_ screwing around with every setting I could find, reloading drivers, updating this that and the other thing, and I have _never_, repeat never, gotten a complete and unflawed plot from an Acrobat file.

RE: PDF PLOTTING FILE SIZE

Have you tried saving as a TIFF or JPEG and then opening those in an image program?

RE: PDF PLOTTING FILE SIZE

Are you plotting in color? grey scale?
Resolution? Plotting a,b,c, d, or e size
drawings?

I'm plotting in B&W and can only assume that cos a PDF is a compresed file it 'unzips' itself as it plots - but i could be wrong.
On our HP 1050C plotter, file size went up to 130MB form 750KB!
Same dwg on OCE9400 went up to 12MB when plotting
Its very strange...
