Ferrobronze alloy properties
Ferrobronze alloy properties
(OP)
Can anyone help me with the material properties of two alloys Fe+55%CuSn10+0.5%C and Fe+40%CuSn+1%C. Regret I am no metallurgist and I cannot find anything on the net.
I'm trying to find out why some bearing bushings have failed prematurely. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Ferrobronze alloy properties
If the second is true, then that alloy is close to FC 1000 (with exception to the tin content), according the the MPIF Standard 35, see www.mpif.org.
RE: Ferrobronze alloy properties
I am told by the factory engineers that there "will be no difference in operating performance" of the two alloys. Well tests have disproved that theory - and my "mechanical mind" tells me that differeing ratios of materials MUST alter performance.
If it makes no sense to you then don't waste any more of your time on it. I'll just have to ask the factory for whatever information they can offer and go from there. Thanks - you have at least given me a course of action!
