Subsea HP/HT Pipeline Analysis

Subsea HP/HT Pipeline Analysis

Subsea HP/HT Pipeline Analysis

Dear all

I wonder if any of you have done any such analysis using abaqus or some other softwares? I understand it is extremely difficult to model the subsea condition.  Care to share your experience?

RE: Subsea HP/HT Pipeline Analysis

You have to be more specific with your question.

ABAQUS does have a submerged pipe element suitable for analysing bouyant pipes dragging along the sea-bed. I can't remember the element name though. I have no experience in using it.

Thanks gwolf. Sorry for not being specific as my intention is just to tap the experience and views from anyone who have done such analysis. I have not met any problems currently in the planning stage but it is expected there will be difficulties associated with plotting the 3-D seabed profile (as well as pipe, temperature), pipe-soil interaction, the different operating conditions and also the potential convergence problems in gettting a solution.

The element you are referring to i believe is the pipe soil element in Abaqus. Have not come across any literature refering of the use of this element though.

Thanks

RE: Subsea HP/HT Pipeline Analysis

I checked out the manuals and found the element and example  - I think you'll just have to dive in and see what happens unless someone else can post and advise.
