Clone and Instance

Clone and Instance

Clone and Instance

(OP)
Has anyone writen a macro or something to allow you to make instances or copys of parts in solidworks? (like in mech desktop)

opening the part, saving as copy, closing original part, opening new part, and inserting new part into an assembly to make a instance takes forever.

thanks for any suggestions anyone may have to make this task a little easyer

RE: Clone and Instance

You should be able to use solidworks explorer to make multiple copies quickly and then go back to solidworks and insert them into your assembly.  Is there some reason this won't work for you?

RE: Clone and Instance

Sorry I don't have a macro for you but ...
If the copied parts are the same as the original, why are you making copies?
If the copied parts are NOT going to be changed drastically you could use Configurations of the original.
